There will be standards for hybrid heat pumps in 2029. That's according to the coalition agreement "Getting Started" presented Friday.

What the standard will look like is still unclear. "In places where a heat grid is not the most suitable solution, we will encourage and standardize, by 2029, the rollout of hybrid, smart heat pumps," states the agreement of the future Jetten 1 government.

Mark Harbers, chairman of Techniek Nederland, is pleased with the commitment of the new government parties. "This is a sensible way to make Dutch homes more sustainable structurally," he said.

He stresses that the government does need to fulfill this promise. "This 'standardization of the heat pump' was also going to be there a few years ago. Then the previous administration put a line through that. It would be good if we did follow the chosen path now," Harbers said.

Grid congestion law

Addressing the grid congestion problem, is given the highest priority, the agreements between D66, VVD and CDA further state. "We will tackle the most urgent projects first. The available grid capacity must also be better utilized, through, among other things, incentives in grid tariffs, flexible contracts and energy hubs."

The new government parties also announced a Grid Congestion Crisis Act, with which they want to speed up procedures for permits and which gives them the possibility to intervene if the building and construction of the electricity grid stagnates. Furthermore, the cabinet is investing in CO2 storage (CCS) in the North Sea.

The Jetten administration also wants to cut the Building Works Decree for the Living Environment. According to her, rules should be simpler, while objection procedures should be shorter.
