What regulations are coming down on the Dutch construction and installation market in 2026? In this special episode of the podcast Bureau Stoer, you'll hear the latest developments around building regulations.

For example, there is news on the rules for CO2-friendly construction (WLC GWP). Building regulations expert Dick van Ginkel explains the latest developments and discusses, among other things, a letter from outgoing Minister of VRO Mona Keijer, in which she addresses concerns from the Council for Environment and Infrastructure.

That cabinet advisory board last summer warned of a construction crisis due to sustainable regulations that would defeat their purpose. Is that a real concern? Van Ginkel: "I don't know, but I don't think it helps if we start scaring each other. Builders and developers would do well to get ahead of such a lockdown caused by CO2."

Tough for the market

Van Ginkel also discusses the government's desire for a "Tough for the Market" program to follow on from the still ongoing STOER program, short of a quest to simplify and improve building and zoning regulations.

In this Building Rule Update, the innovation manager of TBI Woonlab also gives his views on the grid-conscious building rules that provinces are currently rigging up. Van Ginkel is not opposed, but does warn of regulations that miss the mark.
